Where is the Map reading?

In datamaster where is the map reading? When I go to values there is a selection that lets me choose between in or kPa. However I do not see it as an option for the graph, or is it in the variables displayed.

Re: Where is the Map reading?

Kpa and in are just different units. MAP is an acronym for Manifold Air Pressure(or something like that). It is usually measured in Kpa(Kilopascels). Around 30-40kpa is a nice idle, 100Kpa is atmosphere(the stuff we live in). Anything above 100Kpa is pressure(boost). When someone says, "my map is at 50" they should mean 50Kpa.

"In" is inches of mercury, like barometric pressure. The weathermen use these units.(i.e. "and the pressure is holding steady")

Most of us are used to psi(pounds per sq. inch) since our tires are usually measured this way. It's the same thing. Psi = kpa = in, however there is a little math to convert between the three. All three COULD be used to measure MAP, however I think Kpa is pretty standard among tuners.

Welcome to the world of tuning.

Re: Where is the Map reading?

I very soon became aware of that. Thanks for going even further. However in Datamaster I can set the map to either in or kPa, which is fine. However I cannot find that data anywhere in the software. I am very close to needing to purchase the software but dont want to unless I know this value can be found.

Does anyone out there use datamaster and can tell me where to find that map reading?

Re: Where is the Map reading?

Do you mean find the MAP reading on the display or on the graph? In the display panel its the second item from the top in the leftmost column. If it is not in the graph display on the bottom you can double click on one of the items in the box to the right of the graph display and that will open a drop down menu of items that you can add to the graph display. It is explained in the help section but maybe that is disabled in the trial version, I don't remember as it's been some time since I purchased my copy. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. For whatever reason though I do not see it on the display, nor is it an option for the graph.

Re: Where is the Map reading?

Is this for the Corvette in your signature? If so that would be a MAF system ('165 ecm) correct? If that is the case there would be no MAP sensor so no MAP reading to display. Or maybe you have the wrong version of the software? I was just on the TTS website and see there quite a few versions these days. Not trying to sound foolish but just some things to look at.
