Piggy Backing ECM's

I am looking into switching to a MegaSquirt becasue im going to be adding boost to a engine and want to keep the electronic transmission controals. I know i can run two ECU's but the big question is how do i feed both the ECU's signals that they both require with out loosing signal quality while spliting the signal

What transmission controls are you talking about???

What kind of car do you have?
The f body cars do not have an electronic transmission. The only electrical requirement is for torque convertor lockup, and the megasquirt can handle that and much more.

Re: Piggy Backing ECM's

You could use a NPN transistor to amplify the signal. Please bear with my bad art.

Code:
5 volt source-->N P N--->to both ecm's
                  ^
                  |
                  |
            from dizzy
On a side note...if your willing to wait a few months, the GPIO board will be available for the Megasquirt. It'll control your 4l60e, and just about anything else you could imagine. That'll save the headache of piggy-backing.

ok when using a transitor to amplify the signal im still having to split the wires to i simply just put a splice in and make one wire go into two or do i need to then amplify each signal

Re: Piggy Backing ECM's

I would initially try it without the amplification at all. There is a chance you won't even need it. IMO, at the most, you'll only need to amplify before splitting the cable.

However, a little overkill won't hurt anything, and if you're willing to spend the money(quite a little in this case) and time to amplify after splitting, it wouldn't hurt anything.
