Any way to get the code?

My car will run fine until you drive it for about 5-10 then the SES light comes on and the car pretty much feels like its going to die, it takes forever to get up and go once this happens, my main question here is when the SES light comes on is there any way to pull the code without shutting the car off, as soon as I shut the car off or it dies the code goes away, and I am pretty sure my problem is a sensor was hoping to be able to pull a code to give me some direction as to which sensor it could be. Thanks for taking the time to read my post and any info you might be able to supply me with.

See the FAQ on this website and read the section about pulling the codes using a paperclip. If you've already done that and it only shows code 12, then I would suspect a power wire or ground wire to the ECM is loose.
