O2 sensor slow?

I just bought a new bosch O2 sensor for my 89 305TBI RS, and when I look on the scanner, it seems to be very sluggish, reading low for a few secs, then moving to high for a few secs, not the super quick I see with standard obd2 cars, is this normal, are they just slower, or do I have a problem with a new sensor?
