Where to get new ECM for 350 upgrade?
Hey guys,
I'm pondering swapping in a mild build 350 in my 84 T/A rather than rebuilding the 305 that's in it now. IN the end, it'll cost about the same. However, I do have a computer controlled carb in the thing and even though the ECM in my car is primitive, as far as I understand anyway, I still need to upgrade it to be compatable with a 350 right? Where would I go to get such an upgrade?

You might want to check craigslist.org from time to time, and also check the classified here.

Alright, I'll see what to do. i'm still torn between rebuilding the 305 or just building a mild 350. If I swap the 305 for the 350, that's when I"ll have to upgrade. /sigh So many choices.
Re: Where to get new ECM for 350 upgrade?
No need for a new computer for the swap. I swapped out the stock 305 in my Monte SS for a 350 with Vortec heads. Only thing done to the computer was a ZZ4 chip to eliminate the EGR functions since the Vortec heads don't support EGR.
You may consider getting a 350 knock sensor, but it's not necessary. I know of guys running 383's and even big blocks on the stock 305 computers, so save your money budgeted for the computer and spend it on the engine where it belongs
