Thinking about going with Gen 7

I have a couple questions though...first off I am running a 730 speed density setup now. I sat down tonight and figured out the repinning, it looks easy enough. My questions are will my stock knock sensor setup work? Can I just take my knock output and wire it to the ESC input on the gen 7? My next concern is the injectors, right now it is a stagered batch fire, only two wires coming from ecm. One wire grounds out 2,4,6,&8 and the other grounds 1,3,5,&7. Since the Gen 7 does seq. it has a wire for each injector. Could I just take the one wire from my odd injectors and splice it to the gen 7 1,3,5 &7 wires and do the same for the even injectors?

Re: Thinking about going with Gen 7

The Gen 7 requires that it's knock input be tied to a knock module. If you have a module that conditions the signal from your knock sensor, it will work fine. You can't connect the knock sensor directly to the Gen 7 knock sensor input without a module. That won't work.

You also have to wire each injector output from the Gen 7 individually to each injector. You can't wire odds and evens together, and you can't tie injector output lines from the Gen 7 together. The bright side to this is that the Gen 7 will give you the ability to tweak the mixture for each cylinder, but this requires that each injector is controlled individually by the ECM.

How are guys like Whites making adapters for doing such a conversion? It doesn't look like they add any new injector wires. I am curious how they get away with it.

Unless you have a crank and a cam signal going to the Gen VII box, it fires the injectors in batch mode as well. This may be how White manages to adapt the connectors.
