Rapid Flashing SES

I tried clearing the codes on my car by removing the connector at the battery, now when I start my car the SES flashes very rapidly. Is it a bad ECM or what?? Thanks, 1BAD86

Re: Rapid Flashing SES

A rapidly flashing SES is a bad checksum on the PROM. Sounds like the ECM went out and has maybe been on the way out for a while.

Or, the PROM happended to go bad the same time as you reset the ECM.

Pop the MEMCAL out of the socket and re-seat it. See if that takes care of the flashing SES issue.

If so, then start the engine. Then tap on the ECM case. If the engine stumbles as you do this then the ECM is bad.
