Injectors vs PROM

I installed 26 lb. injectors in my '86 with the expectation that I will be adding heads, headers and a bigger cam. I have not changed from the stock PROM. Is the rich condition I am experiencing cases by not modifying the PROM to account for the 26 lb injectors? Should I fall back to a 19 lb. set until I get the rest of the engine mods completed?

If so, what is the best way to prep injectors for storage to prevent them from sticking?

Thanks,

Duane

yes.

You need to tune if for the bigger injectors ( new prom ) or switch back.

And when you get new heads/cam you will need to tune it again for the combo.

Re: Injectors vs PROM

Then that begs a question...

How much in the way of engine mods will a set of stock (22 lb) injectors support? What changes mandate increased injector fuel delivery rates? Given a stock motor (305) with World heads, Edelbrock or PaceSetter headers and a Crane cam (smog legal), and siamesed runners, would 22 lb injectors work or should I replace the 22 lb units with the 26 lb units?

What would be a good rule of thumb for determining when bigger injectors should be used? Did I just spend $350 on 26 lb. injectors that I won't be using?

Re: Injectors vs PROM

26# injectors are huge for a 305, 350's only came with 22# stock. As for the ideal injector size, I'm not too sure. You didn't waste your money though, those will work fine with a tune. The ECM just needs to know the injector size, so it can calculate accordingly.
