Will a SD ECM work in a MAF car?
I got a 88 IROC with a 305 TPI MAF engine that Im working on. I have a suspision that the ECM may be bad. I have a spare ECM out of a 90 Trans Am that was a 350 TPI Speed Density engine. The service number on the spare ECM is 01227730. If I swap the proms around will this computer work in the 305 MAF car? Thanks for the help.
P.S. If that will not work I can use the ECM out of my 88 L98 IROC as long as I switch the proms right?

Your PROM will not work in the '730 ECM but it will work in your 88 L98 ECM ('165 ECM).
The '730 has a very different pinout and an extra connector. Installing it in an 88 would require repinning the ECM connectors and a harness modification for a MAP sensor. It can be done but it is certainly not a drop-in.
