checked the codes

Well I read on here how to check the codes by jumping the last two terminals on the aldl. When I turned the key on it did what it was supposed to do, but the E. Fan was running?
Also is there a aldl usb connector that I could connect to my laptop to monitor stuff while the car is running? If so where would I get one? and any if I should know about them?

Re: checked the codes

E. Fan? Cooling fans will come on with ecm in diagnostic mode. ALDL connection: I use pins stuck in plug and connect to my laptop via serial port. I have heard connecting through usb is possible but has issues, that was a while ago, problem may have been corrected. Check out Craig Moates website for all your datalogging needs. I believe he has a USB converter.

Re: checked the codes

Old laptops are fine, I use XP on mine with Tunerpro. Fuse should be in main fuse panel labeled ECM, check the wiring diagram for your car. Or just disconnect the battery.

Re: checked the codes

The fuse was right by the battery on the wheel well. How do you know which wires go where on the serial port?

Re: checked the codes

It's not a direct connection, there is a interface that needs to go between which you can build or buy. Go over to the prom tuning message board and check out the stickies at the top, you will find the required hardware needed to log data.
