my 7730 EMC crapped out, unbelievably

I went to start my car to drive home, and it just ran like a pig, had to keep one foot on the gas just to keep it from dieing, wouldn't idle at all. but it still could drive, although reeked of fuel vapors (very rich), while driving home, I noticed the speedometer/odometer wasn't registering, so I figured the VSS crapped out. when I got it home, I hooked up my Datamaster/laptop, and it wouldn't synch up. then did the ALDL flashing light thing, and got codes 12, 14, 42, & 45. 14 is the temp sensor, 42 was the EST, and 45 was the O2. I was surprised I didn't get code 24 for the VSS. started trouble-shooting with the temp sensor & wiring (easiest), and which all checked out okay, so swapped out the ECM & memcal, and car started right up, very fine. luckily I had a spare ECM stashed away from ebay.

I figure I got the car home in limp-home mode, woulda probably been better if I had kept the factory 22# injectors instead of biggie-sizing with 30#, at least then the memcal limp-home would've been in the ball-park. maybe I should swap back to the 22#'s since I don't think I've ever thoroughly exercised the 30#'ers. food for thought.
