Mine is a 89 RS Convertible Specifically, if that makes a difference...
can anybody tell me OEM GM Part number & description for the pictured fastener & or a source?
its the same for both the radiator overflow tank & windshield washer fluid tank, which I just replaced from Hawks Third Gen, but unbelievably neither come with the required mounting hardware nor does the vendor list it on their site currently...

The P/N FOR THEM IS 12337831,this fastener above is supposed to be the replacement for the round ones but you can get the proper ones from this web site.
PS I have the replacement ones above and I don't like them,so if you buy the round ones ,I'll buy four of them from you
Re: 82-92 Camaro Radiator Overflow Tank & Windshield Washer Tank Fasteners
Coincidently, I needed one of these fasteners also. Last week when I got to a show and opened the hood on the TTA, the wiper fluid reservoir was sitting funny and one of the fasteners had broken. When I got home, took the tank off and drained it. I went to a place I frequent and after looking thru a bunch of catalogs, the counter guy found me a replacement-looks just like the one pictured with the round top. Anyway, I wish I would have seen this thread, at least then I would have had a part number.
I had a couple of these in my nuts and bolts, etc container. They did not work very well. Kept popping back out. I see why the correct one has a screw type fastener. It will hold better.

They may be correct for the 84 but I know at least 89 and up use the other style.
It would be nice to know if it was a year, plant/supplier or what when it was changed.

I have the same push-type, non-screw/non-hex head fasteners on my 84 Z. But are bigger than 1/4 inch. Thinking 5/16 GM push type. Or larger? Not meaning to hijack thread. Newer style likely fits '89.
Mine is a June 1984 Van Nuys build.

I'm beginning to wonder if we have a discrepancy based on the factory again. If my '87 from Van Nuys has the push pin and mantaguy has an '86 with the screw, is mataguy's car a Norwood built car?

My 1984 Norwood Built Has The Screw Type,While Saxondale Says His 1984 Has The Push Type.

Ok, so now we have some more investigating to do. Did Van Nuys use the push pins until 1987 and then in '88 switched over to the screw that Norwood had been using?
Re: 82-92 Camaro Radiator Overflow Tank & Windshield Washer Tank Fasteners
I'm wondering if they use the screw type when they run out of push type!!!I say that because the parts book(Firebird) does not list them at all, just the push type for both , the recovery tank and the washer fluid tank,82-92.The P/N I listed above is for the push type not the screw type. I know mine had the screw type(original owner) when I was redoing it,(I broke the heads off when I was putting new tanks on).So now I'm wondering, maybe it doesn't matter what one you use, I know the push type is a way easier to find then the screw type.

Scott, my 1985 California IROC has the screw type on both radiator and window tanks. It was made in April of 1985 at the Van Nuys plant and are the original ones. So I can confidently say that Van Nuys used the screw type during April of 1985.
Then I looked at my 1987 Van Nuys built IROC and it had the push in type. I don't know if these are original on this '87 car, but I do know that they are original on my 1985 IROC?
Hey there. I would like a few if you could spare them? I would gladly mail you a check. I guess the problem I'm having is I bought a new radiator reservoir tank for my 87 IROC and it seems like the clips are too old and dont really hold quite right??? Need them to be firmer so when I put the screw in they really stay...
