question about esc`s
Is there a differance between the 305 and 350 esc module.IIRC I got 2 differant part numbers for the knock sensor and the esc.I`m just realizing I put the 350 knock sensor in when we did the engine swap but I never changed the esc.I`m getting a decent amount of knock counts causing timing to be pulled out,but hear no knock.Ican hear knock when I had to run 87 octane after the hurricanes put us in gas shortage,But not with 93 and octane booster.Even though dattaloging shows knock counts.Anyway can 305 esc in 350 give me any trouble. The 350 esc is like 80 bucks just like to get an idea before I order it.BTW on the corvette forum they had a part number for an upgraded esc.GM#16038331.

Re: question about esc`s
Supposedly they contain different filters to tune into the different tones of the pings. The 350's bigger "bells" (cylinders) would have a lower pitch I assume, though I've never actually measured this myself. The upgrade might have sharper & better filtering, maybe to prevent false knock readings. Just guessing there though.

Re: question about esc`s
You should be able to grab a 350 ESC module from a JY. Look for full size chevy vans and pickups. It will have the paper label code of HKR. Under the seat in the vans and usually under the hood on pickups (bracket on engine).
They rarely go bad so $5 - $10 should get you a good one.

Re: question about esc`s
Thank you.I just put a 350 esc off of a chevy tbi truck. The numbers and letters on it were differant than the one on my 305 one.I wish I could see if the numbers were the same as the ones in the 350 esc pictured.I guess when I get a chance to get home and dattalog it I`ll see if it helped.

Re: question about esc`s
Just for the record the esc from to seperat e tbi 350 trucks did not fix the problem.Gonna have some timing pulled out of the chip and work our way up.
