I have a 88 TBI camaro, the mechanic said my computer was ****, i got a 8063 i think, gm # 88999158 "acdelco" laying around. I tried swapping them, my car wont run with 8063. DO i just have to change the prom from my old computer to the 8063? I have the stock computer in the car now.

 

I did a search for that 88999158. No hits cept your posts. That is surprising. what is the vehicle/platform it came out of ?

I would call a couple junk yards. Here in WI 8746 was around $70. I picked up a "rebuilt" one off ebay for $85 plus ship. That was a couple years back.

 

I got the stock 88 TBI ecm in the car right now, unsure of the number.

Got the additional ecm out of a 92 z28 TBI (not sure if it was a 350 or 305 since the motor was gone when i bought the car.) which is the 8063/gm 88999158

 

1992 305 F body used a 8746. F body never had a 350 TBI engine but Caprice did in B. 8063 used in 88 F body L03. Per Tunercat site.

 

I had 3 camaro's. One was a 91/92 z28 part car, no motor. 89 rs 305 TBI, and my current 88 305 TBI.

I took the computer out of the 91/92 put it in the 89rs it worked fine. Put that same computer in my 88, didnt work. The 89 Had vats, not sure of the 91/92 my 88 does not have it. "Got the fuel pump cut off switch hidden "


Will it help if i could pull the number from my 88 ?

 

Not to go off topic but i am actually in bakersfield and I got married at Mooney Grove Park am also having issues with my ecm. I plan on buying new though from rock auto not bad pricing. Just some info
