'92 5.7 TPI won't start
My '92 5.7 TPI sometimes will not crank. I have power to all the accessories but not to the starter. I'm not familiar with the VATS technology but have a funny feeling that this may be the root of my problem. Again, the problem is intermittent, happens when cold, hot without any perceivable cause. Any help would be appreciated. The car also has over 160,000 miles on the odometer.

Re: '92 5.7 TPI won't start
To check if it is a VATs issue there is a Security lamp in the dash. At key-on, engine-off the light should turn on for 2 seconds then turn off.
If the light turns on and stays on then the VATs module isn't reading the key correctly. In this case the engine won't start.
Most issues with VATs is either the key gets dirty (little chip like piece in the upper portion of the key). Or the wires from the lock cylinder start to break.
