I just bought a heavily modified 87 gta with an accel ecm(#74046) do I need to download software so I can hook up my laptop with the ecm? If so any idea what version? The obd1 no longer works with my snapon scanner .Its got a superram intake, cam, pistons, paxton sn92 supercharger, supercomp headers,6al,msdcoil, anyway I want to make sure everything is running okay since its been sitting for over a year. Ive never used an aftermarket ecm or a laptop to scan sensors. thanks for any info

I thought the guy said the headgaskets were blown? Did you get it running? Or replace them?
I started it and ran it for 15min ,no smoke. I drove it to my friends shop and were trailoring it to my friends house tonight. The kid said it was acting funny at higher rpms. Its definetly running rich but the cap, rotor and plugs are corroded big time,,,not so new as he stated.
from what Ive found out I have a 74046 ecm. From what Ive read its the computer for the TPI motor and its considered a Gen 6 DFI. I think I can download the free software from calmap and use version 6.2 and that should let me get info from the car. Anyone know if this is correct?

That sounds correct. If the ECU is in a silver box, typically with 3 tabs, then its Gen 6. If it's a black box, then it is Gen 7.
Either way, you need CalMap (for the correct "Gen" version) and the CalMap cable that connects to your ECU, and then either has a serial port end or a USB end. You can get either from any EMIC of Accel and/or Summit Racing.

Ive got it hooked up and Im running calmap 6.32 but I cant seem to find what Im looking for. I cant acces a screen that shows me real time data for the cars sensors. I was hoping for something like there demo screen

It's been 4 yrs since I ran Gen 6 (using Gen 7 now - and you can see any sensor on that), but I thought there was a datalog feature in Gen 6 like my Gen 7 that you can use to record a few sensors (up to 6?).
