gen 6 dfi compatibility
I have 86 Iroc that i converted to tuned port,I used gen 6 accel dfi. I want to pull the tuned port, and up grade to a LT1 i picked up with 6 speed. My question is will my dfi control the timing on the newer style motor, with crank shaft distributor? If so how do i wire it?

Re: gen 6 dfi compatibility
Hi Big Chris, First off. The dist on the LT1 is driven off the cam, as is the water pump. The dist uses high res & low res optical sensors for cam and crank reference thus its name: Optispark. The ign. control of the gen 6 unit may not work with the optispark sys. Youll have to check voltage and waveform to know for sure. ACCEL has a tech line where you may get help. theyre number is 1 248 380 2780. good luck

Re: gen 6 dfi compatibility
Hey Big Chris, I was thinking about your situation and i think msd may make a crank trigger set up for the LT1. If I remember correctly, the gen 6 will work with crank trigger and the msd controller. It's not a cheap set up but it may work for you. Hope this helps.
