lost power but did i really deserve it anyway?
i have a 92 z 305 car auto. the car to me is a slow car has 2.73 rear this thing cant even squel the tire's at all! i put a magna flow exhaust on it saturday at work (im a bodyshop/painter not mech) and also hollowed out the cat. i thought it be loud but its not! kinda let me down. BUT anyway.... so i pull out of the shop and let it idle then washed it. i smelled some abnormal gas fumes.... i got in to leave and floored it and it peeled out and even sideways! i thought wow!!! i gain some hp and torq. i went to the light up the street and did it again! awsome right!!??? i drove home bout 15 miles and shut it off. next day took it out noticed i didnt smell gasy fumes and guess what.......... yup no tire squeeling..same slow car as it was..... so did my computer change the car??? if i chipped it like hypertech or jet would i get that little bit back???? come on wtf??? any info would be loved.... please refrain from telling me to get a bigger engine or engine work etc i already know that. i like it to look all stock and an laid off so no income means no engine for a few years.

swapping out a restrictive muffler/hollowing a cat can bump up the VE of a motor by a significant amount(meaning more air and therefore fuel being injected at a given vacuum and RPM). i'm thinking the extra air helped offset the normally way too rich PE AFR that GM BINs normally have.
fun way to test it is to cut power to the ECM for a while(60 seconds or so should be more than enough), then plug back in, start it and go see if the power returned. if it did, you could probably use some custom tuning to get the most out of the motor. if it doesn't, well, i'm stumped.

you know what... for sum reason the battery just totally died tuesday when we went for it to go for a ride. so i went and got one at the plant near my house. i put it in and we left and it DID seem to be gasy again and more power but i really didnt beat it to see if it could break them loose again. you could be on to something! thanx
