Stalling 86 Firebird. Can I disconnect the MAP sensor?

I had my car tuned last year, and was told the MAP sensor had been disconnected. The guy reconnected it, and now whenever I slow down from speed I get a CEL and the car tries to stall. If you accelerate the CEL goes back out.

Can I disconnect the MAP sensor and plug the tube without messing anything up?

The one I'm talking about its on the passenger side of the firewall. I've just read elsewhere on here that there isn't supposed to be any vacum connection to it. Can anyone clarify?

It is necessary for your car to run properly. It should have a vac line running to it from TB. I would pull codes or take car to aparts store and have them scan for codes.

Was car runnin well after the tune up?

It was running ok, but the CEL light issue started straight after the tune up. I actually disconnected the sensor on the passenger side firewall yesterday, plugged the line, and the cars been fine ever since. No CEL and no stalling. I read somewhere else on here that there are two sensors on the firewall, and only one is plumbed into the vac hoses. I think he connected the other one up by mistake, and messed things up.
