I have a 82 trans am with crossfire injection. it has an auto tranny and i want to swap in a manual. ive heard of some problems with doing the swap in regards to the ECM so i was thinking of getting a prom for a manual tranny, or changing the ECM to a newer version from a TBI vehicle with manual tranny. anyone have any input on what the better route would be? and what would be more expensive? i have no idea where to get a new Prom at so im in the dark about it.

 

CF harness is specific to CF. Later ECU's wont plug in. You would need to repin. Most likely you will need to do a prom swap. If you cant find a stock manual trans prom then Hypertech may offer one.

 

yes i know i will need to repin if i swap ECU. i have an oppertunity to get one from a 91 rs with 305 TBI and manual tranny, will this work? and i think hypertech only has a NON-smog legal chip. i need to pass CA emissions, i know it sucks

 

305 in both cars. 8746 needs a IAT or turn off in tune. Should be OK. Cant think of any other differences. I presume injector size is same. Digital dash may be an issue if present.
