Please Consider two ECMs,
one from 89 camaro, TBI 5.0 Auto trany
one from 89 camaro, TBI 5.0 Manual tranny
The number on the outside of the ecm would be the same? for example 01228746 ?
It's the software inside the prom that would be different only? would there be two different number printed on that prom for auto and manual?

Correct on both counts. Except not the numbers on the PROM, but the 4-letter code. Such as ANTT, or AXKS.
