HELP!!! new to tuning

i recently relpaced my o2 sensor and put a autometer fuel/air ratio gauge in. i have a mid to high level cam in and i noticed i am lean through most of the rpms. i adjusted the tps to richen it up but the idle gets erratic with it in drive it tends to surge and on the gauge it looks like the ecm is leaning the car out to much then it trys to fix it by dumping fuel making the rpms jump 100-200 at idle then it slowly trys to lean it back out. what should i do to fix this?

Changing the TPS won't change the fueling. But will wreck havoc on the idle. Reset the TPS to 0.54 volts and leave it. If you also played with the idle stop screw then do a full idle set up. The tech articles found from the home page has a link to the procedure.

IIRC, it is called "setting minimum air" or similar.

Since you changed the cam, de-screened the MAF maybe? The calibration needs to be tuned for the changes. This is done in the PROM.

RBob.

ALDL is the diagnostics port inside the vehicle. You also have to unplug the connector for the IAC on the throttle body to get idle set properly.
