Upgrade efi ideas

Spring is here and the garage is getting warm. I need some ideas on efi upgrades. Currently in build is a 383 engine. Want to get advice and directions people have gone. I don't want to chop up the harness to get things put it. Also don't want to run down the road with the Engine light on and a piece of tape over it or unplugging the bulb(but if i have to i have to).
Current Car 1991 Camaro unmolested t-5 and 305 ttops.
Car is in garage and doesn't have to run tomorrow, trying to get all parts gathered up to make for a nice evening beer drinking time with the boys.

Got engine - Being rebuilt 1998 4-bolt all forged internals
cam - xfi 280 comp cam roller
afr 195 competition heads 2.08 valves
Centerforce lt1 flywheel
1 3/4 headers - Need suggestions
EFI System - Need Suggestions
intake - plan for single plane/ need suggestions
throttle body - Need suggestions
Tranny - t-56 / sitting in garage
Rear - 4.56 gear 12 bolt sitting at summit

If i can get efi system figured out i will be putting it on the 305 just to learn to tune so i don't oops with the other engine.lol.. Also if you see something in my list that just isn't going to work please feel free to comment.

Thanks for helping me in advance.

If it is a TPI car, the 1227730 ECM that you have in it is a great and tunable ECM. Look in the DIY PROM forum for information on tuning, using updated or modified code (S_AUJP for example), and what equipment to to use.

I use the sister to that ECM (1227749) in my Datsun running the Nissan straight 6, with a turbo, and no check engine light problems or issues. It's a great system

Re: Upgrade efi ideas

The stock configuration TBI is in my Camaro.. Looking to more than likely switch to Multi-Port setup for the 383. Just keep them ideas rolling in .. I have been researching the EBL flash system since i have been reading posts for many months, and i am very good with computers so getting it hooked up won't be a problem and learning the software. but when it will come to the actual tuning i will have to educate myself on all the acronyms that are thrown around. But i know that isn't the only system people are running.. I will be a noob when tuning so i don't even know if the laptop is going to have to sit on the seat even after i get it tuned right.

Well, you can swap to the TPI harness and ECM, which is a great option.

You can use the EBL, in the older TBI style ECM, or also swap to the TPI style ECM and run the new P4 EBL.

Re: Upgrade efi ideas

If i swap to TPI harness and go with the P4 flash would that benifit me over just doing the ebl flash for the TBI harness? Or will tuning be the same?

Re: Upgrade efi ideas

Tuning should be very similar, RBob can answer that question better.

Some differences would be that you would need to get the "port mod" on the TBI ECM, to run MPFI, where as the '7730 would already be set-up for that. The P4 ECM is already a newer ECM, that, could be faster processing overall, again RBob would know for sure, I know he made some great improvements with the TBI ECM. I'm also not sure if his TBI EBL ECM would be a direct plug and play for your current TBI ECM, since I know it's based on the '7747. Repinning is an option in any case, but you would still need to modify the harness under the hood, if you retained the TBI harness.

I'm saving my pennies for a EBL P4 Flash for my 91 TPI
