PROM headache plz help
My brain hurts. Plz Help. Someone just tell me what I need,,, I am feed up with trying to figure this out and I'm kinda in a hurry. SO,,,
I need to know what prom to buy and put into my project ECM. Heres what I have, it's a TPI 350. I need a prom that by passes the VATS,,the ecm and prom chip I have must be a 89 or newer. So I want to keep the ecm and put in the right chip. I know it can be bypassed with a module etc,,that is not the way I want to go.
I would like to buy the right chip plug it in and go. Everything else is solved as far as getting the motor running. I believe the best way is to by a 87 or a 88 prom because they do not have vats,,,but should I be concerned with everything else? such as automatic vs manual?,,I have a 5 spd manual.
I have seen some stuff for sale here in the classifieds like the following: a computer and a prom,,,computer is 1227169 it is out of a 86 firebird with a 350 (5.7) and the prom code is unknown,,,does that matter. Would this set up work for me? Compound questions I know,,clear answers would be greatly aprreciated!!
