intermittant high idle

intermittant high idle

My buddies 350 TBI truck. He is a mechanic(non efi)/engine builder. Code 22 which he said is TPS. New Delco TPS goes in, the problem comes back following day with same CE and same code TPS. There are no VAC leaks. If so it should not be intermittant. I am thinking IAC sticking intermittant and he will clean IAC by spraying the pindle and not letting cleaner get inside. Is there a way to disassemble IAC? Does it unscrew?

He will also clean the air passageway of the IAC. What else causes intermittant high idle?

Is there a code for IAC failure?

Possibly depending upon which ECM is in use, the TPS low (malf 22) is caused by a low voltage reading from the TPS. Suspect a connector or wiring issue.

No IAC failure codes that I know of in the C3 series of ECMs.

He cleared the code shortly after me posting and ordered and installed a new IAC and apparently car runs OK. But then again it was intermittant. And he thought after replaceing the TPS it too was fixed. What I did not mention in my post is that the voltage TPS% @ 0 was .22. That matches the code 22. Something tells me it may reappear.
