Would a missing ground cause an ecm failer?

I forgot to hook up the set of ground wires that connect to the passenger side cylinder head when replacing the head gaskets. I now lost spark and I was wondering if it is likely that I fried the ecm from running the vehicle with only half of the grounds hooked up?

Not sure about the ECM but I bet you fried something by forcing it to sink more current than it could.
