HELP! can't get into service mode

Hello,
This is on a 87 Trans Am, 5.7l TPI, 7165 ecm, ARAP 6E

Car ran just nice till yesterday.

now i've got no idle, check engine is allways on, the fan turns on in about one second after ignition is turned on while engine is off, fan stays on.

i'm used to, that the fan stays off. when diagnostic terminals A and B are jumpered, fan turns on, and SES light is flashing.

if i jumper A and B now, nothing hapens, fan is allready on and stays on, SES doesnt start to flash.

any suggestions? open or short circuit? what to check for?

ECM is always in limp mode. Do this:

At key-on, engine-off, observe the SES light. It should turn on briefly, blink off, then turn on solid. Can re-try the test after a minimum of 10 seconds of key-off.

If no blink off, ECM is DEAD; or the MEMCAL is missing/bad/unplugged.

RBob.
