Re: ECM service number?
The best way to know is to actually look at your ECM to know. In some cases there are several service numbers that can be used all for the same application.

What is 240.55?
Post a picture of the ECM, even remans should have a number we can recognize.

Re: ECM service number?
sorry, that was kind of a quick un-thought-out reply.
when i hook up WinAldl, it says my coolant temp is 240.55.
ive replaced the CTS already, and traced the wiring back to the plug. Everything has continuity.
Leads me to think its a bad ECM.
anyway, as far as the numbers on the side. I really dont think it had any numbers relating to GM.
It was kind of a part number for the specific knock-off ecm.
i can get that number for you if that helps? but nothing like 1227165 is denoted on it.

Re: ECM service number?
If you read the letters off the computer chip we can identify off of that but I will bet you money its a 1227165.

Re: ECM service number?
This thread is 4 1/2 years old but, yes you have a 1227165 ECM. All MAF cars used the 165 ECM while the SD cars used the 7730. 1990 being the change year so 89 and prior used MAF and the 165 ECM. There are other service numbers for that ECM which were supposed to have some improvements. Those can be found using a search for MAF ECMs. HTH!
