V6 datalogging getting started

I have a '91 3.1 v6 and want to get into chip tuning. I plan to start just data logging using Moates ALDU1 CABL1 combo hardware and probably TunerPro. Am I correct that apart from the software I need to download a translation file and the correct one is $88? There is an 88.xdf and an 88.ads file. Do I need both? What do the two files do? Are there any books on this stuff?

Re: V6 datalogging getting started

Need both. the .xdf is the calibration layout to help in changing the calibration. The .ads is the data stream definition file so that you can evaluate the data log easily.

The MaskID of $88 is correct for that ECM/engine.

Can hit the Tuning Guide book sticky on the DIY_PROM board here for more information.

Note that there is a some-what complete hac of the $88 code on the diy-efi.org site.
