Blinking SES light.

When I plugged my ALDL cable in today my SES light started flashing fast and I couldn't get any reading on WinALDL. It also didn't idle up like it usually does. Soon as I unplugged it, it stopped. What does this mean? Is my ECU dying (or dead)?

For what its worth, my car is running like crap right now with no codes.

A fast flashing SES means that the ECM can't checksum the PROM. So it goes into limp mode while continuously checking the PROM's checksum. Won't get any data when it is doing this.

As for why it does it with the ALDL cable plugged in, not sure.
