1986 camaro computer

1986 camaro computer

this is a long story ,but ill try to make it short,so here it goesi took my camaro to the shop because the said that the computer needed the updated eproms .i got them to order the new epromsfrom vintanged parts and the computer from gw acdelco ,they installed but did not disconnect the batteryand it fried the compute and the eprom .what i am trying to find out before i install another if that could have damage anything else ,i check the wireing as far as i could see nothing burnt ,what i am asking if i installed all new computer and eproms and disconnect the battery should it work or not could somebody give me things to look for first thanks to everybody that can help

The only way to tell is to install another ECM & EPROM and see. My question would be what is the issue that they feel the ECM/EPROM fried? Is this a carb car or a TPI?

I've R&R'd a lot of ECMs without disconnecting the battery. Haven't had one go bad from doing that.

'86 Camaro didn't have TBI from the factory. If it actually has one it was swapped on. In this case some detective work is going to be required to see if the install was properly completed.
