memcal question.
Can a 305 memcal be used for a 350 tune?
what I'm trying to say is a 305 swapped to a 350
I have a 305 memcal but have an adapterboard and a chip tuned for the 350?
does the memcal have to be a 350 one?

Re: memcal question.
As far as I know the other chips besides the PROM on the MEMCAL control the limp-mode and the cylinder select.
The limp-mode may differ from 305 to 350, but that only comes into play if the PROM becomes non-functional. The cylinder select just tells the ECM how many cylinders the engine is, so no difference between 305 & 350 in this regard.
Also, I run a 305 PROM on a 350 memcal via an adapter board, and have not noticed any related issues in the limited amount of driving I have on the setup.
EDIT: Make sure to read utilityguy2's post below. The info I gave here is only valid for the '165 ECM. Sorry for any confusion.

Re: memcal question.
If you are talking 1227165 MAF ECM and Memcal without the on board ESC knock filter, then yes it is as BlueIroc says. If it is a 90-92 SD 1227730 ECM Then the ESC knock filter on the Memcal and the knock sensors are different between the 5.0 and 5.7 engines and that would need to be addressed.
