holley commander 950

quick story, 92 5 speed 305tpi trans am. 166000 miles when a rod started knocking. putting a built 383 in it. thought i wsa gonna go carb so i CAREFULLY pulled out the harness from the ecu to the c100 plug. changed my mind and bought a holley commander 950 and a single plan efi setup. i have never messed with anything fuel injected before so im still learning. do i use my stock harness and do away with the stock ecm? anything i should know before i start putting this setup in?

Re: holley commander 950

The c950 has a different wiring harness than the stock one. I have heard of people rewiring the c950 harness to the factory harness, but it does take time. You would also need to make sure the sensor readings are the same as what the c950 needs to operate.

Re: holley commander 950

Yeah i've got the book. Haven't really had time to fully read it but I have an electric speedo that runs through the stock ecm. Will it still work with the 950?

No the 950 will only control engine management, not the gauges etc.

Re: holley commander 950

You have to swap a few wires around in the connectors but it's not too bad. I wired one to work on a '7730 harness and it took a few hours.

Re: holley commander 950

It's been quite a while but it's pretty easy to figure them out. All you need is the diagram for the 950 and the diagram for your car.

One good option is to pick up a spare harness from the junk yard and modify that one just in case you ever need to go back.. or pick up a Holley harness.

Re: holley commander 950

You have the 950C book. It has everything in there. All diagrams needed. (atleast mine does) you can also find the 7730 harness info on this site.

label everything 1st. Then depin it. and repin it. Like said above start to finish only takes a few hrs.
