Hey guys I posted a while back about my car having a really high idle I've changed every sensor but the map an nothing has changed. i have found that the computer gets really hot like hot enough to burn you. The check engine light comes on but it doesn't save any codes and when it does this high idle thing the scanner loses its connection to the computer. I've checked every wire from the computer they all have the right voltages and what not, the only problem is i can never get it to idle weird when I'm checking the wires. Is the computer just shot or could something be causing it to mess up? it only idles high after i've driven about 30 miles or for around forty minutes.

 

The ECMs do run hot, but shouldn't be so hot that it will burn you. I would check the resistance of the solenoids & relays that the ECM controls first. There may be one that is shorting which will cause the driver in the ECM to overheat.

If they are all good to go then try another ECM.
