TIMING ISSUES WITH CAM
ok, so I got a "355" out of an 88 IROC-Z a few years back and i finally put it into my 91 Z28. I blew up my original L98 like a dumb *** with 142k on her. so the question is i know that the stock engine is suppose to be at 6deg when timing it....but the issue is that theres a "mild cam" supposedly thats in there and i cant get the car to run just right. Without taking the engine out again where would be a good starting point to have the engine timed at. Mind you i have all the stock equip from my L98 bolted on. I had it at 6 deg and it was ok but it was misfiring and now i have it at 4 ATC and theres no power...should i just get a chip? or keep playing with it. I know it sucks that i dont have the cam specs but I dont have the room to rip out the cam at the moment..any suggestions? PLUS I CANT GET ANY SPEED SHOPS TO EVEN TOUCH MY CAR IN CHICAGO...SMH
Re: TIMING ISSUES WITH CAM
you don't mention wether you have done any basic checks on the engine first, ie compressions check, firing on all cylinders, vac leaks, earths, wiring connections, fresh fuel etc, especially as its been sat around for a couple of years.
