Do I Need A New Computer?
So to make a long story short I was messing with electrical stuff on my 1992 Camaro RS 305 TBI. I seem to have caused the fuel pump or the injectors to no longer work. When I brought my car to my mechanic he determined that I had caused some sort of damage to the computer, and luckily everything else with the vehicle works completely fine minus the fuel delivery.
He showed me how to jump the fuel delivery system by splicing in a wire and plugging it into the ignition port of the fuse box. This works, however after I turn the vehicle off with the key all the electronics turn off and the engine remains running. I then have to pull the wire out to turn off the engine.
The Camaro has been like this for over a year now and I have been driving it as is. My question is will replacing the ECM solve my fuel delivery issues? If so how do I pick the right computer for the car?
I found several ECMs on rockauto.com, which unit is the correct ECM? http://rockauto.com/catalog/x,carcod...,parttype,2896

Re: Do I Need A New Computer?
The ECM in your car is the 1228746, '8746 for short. In you get another one be sure to swap the PROM over to the new one.
Likely the small transistor that powers the fuel pump relay popped. Easy to do and easy to replace. Takes longer to R&R the cover then to R&R the transistor.
This thread shows which one, can also use a PN2907:
