Swap to 730 ECM: 4 Questions
I have a 1985 IROC that I put a new engine in as well as changed the computer to the 730 ECM. I have the new wiring harness and ECM just about installed but ran into a couple of issues:
1) The original ECM has an additional box mounted on the top of it (see picture) that plugs in right by the ECM. What is this? Is this something that is still needed and should be put back, or does the new ECM not require this?
2) The old wiring harness had two plugs that came right out of the old ECM and then plugged in under the dash. The new ECM and harness do not, so right now I have two "open" plugs that look like they run over to the driver side. Do these need to be plugged into something? Or are they now not needed?
3) The wiring harness I purchased has connectors for a TCC Lockup and a Speed Sensor. Are these for cars with electronic transmissions, or are these things I need to hook up?
4) Finally, there are additional leads on the harness that I think I need to hook up and I'm not sure the best or preferred location is:
Lead for Power Battery positive (straight to battery, right?)
Lead for 12-Volt Switched Ignition Power
Lead for Fuel Pump Positive Output
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Re: Swap to 730 ECM: 4 Questions
The additional box is the MAF burn off module, no longer required. The '7730 TPI based systems used a magnetic VSS, you can use the optical one by changing a flag int he ECM's calibration. See this link for more info:

Note that Mike first went with the '7165 ECM, then later switched to the '7730 ECM.
