what are the symptoms of a coil going bad in a HEI.

what are the symptoms of a module going bad.

I don't think that I have ever had an ignition coil go out on me so I can't help there. With the Ignition control modules what I noticed was that the engine would stall or have no spark for a half a second. When they get really bad they will cut out often and not start and then all of the sudden start.

The module will cause missing under load and eventually stall. As it heats up it gets worse. When it cools down you can restart the car.

when you replace the ignition module replace the ignition coil as well. Coils are cheap around 30 to 40 bucks.
