Bad ECM?
I'm trying to connect my ECM to Data Master and I keep getting errors like "undefined comm error #-9" or "the cable adapter is working, but unknown data was received. This could be an incompatible PCM." I'm running a 165 ECM with $32B. I flashed the stock calibration file to my flash chip and installed it with the adapter into the ECM and I got it to link up once but not since. Any ideas as to what the problem is?

Re: Bad ECM?
The easiest software to try to connect to although I dont like it is winaldl. Make sure you jumper the aldl a to b with a 10K resister or if you cable has it built in switch it to the 10K mode. You may need to switch com ports and check your driver / cable status. The 165 is a hit or miss ecm to connect to.

Hi Michael
There have been problems with the FTDI chip drivers. It would be best to start with verifying the cable is working correctly. Download RealTerm from this link - http://realterm.sourceforge.net/inde...loads_Download - Have the cable connected to your computer, but not connected to your vehicle. Install RealTerm and open it. Go to Port and select the port your cable is using. Now put your cursor in the black box and type.
If you are getting the characters you are typing then your cable is working correctly. If you are getting a NUL for each charater then the problem is in the cable/drivers. Try rolling back the drivers for BOTH the cable and the Universal Serial Bus Controller - USB Serial Controller to version 2.08.14. They can be downloaded here - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...%202.08.14.zip
Is this one of my Red Devil River cables or someone else? If someone else my install disk might help. It walks you through installing the cable and TunerPro RT. It also has the .ADX files in order. You can download it here - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...20USB-ALDL.zip
