1987 firebird t5 vss problem

Hey guys I swapped a t5 into my firebird and it was from a camaro so the t5 has the cable drive speedo. I bought a 2k pulse adapter from painless wiring and my speedo isn't working now. my car is factory carbed car. Did I get the right adapter or did I need the 4k? now doing even more research I see some people saying the firebirds are 4k pulse or is that just for the tpi? I'm new to this stuff so any help would be appreciated greatly. Thanks

I take it that the previous 700R4 had an electric VSS on the transmission? If so then you need a 4K PPM magnetic VSS for the T5. Also, under the dash should be a yellow box (sometimes white), on the passenger side that has "4-OUT BUFFER" on it.

Again, if there is, then the 4K PPM magnetic VSS is the correct one to use. The magnetic VSS is also referred to as a 'sine wave' output type.

Did you ever resolve this by chance? I am having the same problem. Swapped out my 700r4 auto with a t5 that is cable driven. Haven't figured out how to get my electronic speedo working. And I don't have the old transmission anymore to swap out the gears and vss.
