looking to pick up chip burner, recommendations?

Looking to pick up a chip burner for both TPI, and TBI ECMs. What would you guys recommend? The TunerC.A.T.S. is like $95 but i don't know a ton about these primitive systems lol.

Thanks in advance!

Re: looking to pick up chip burner, recommendations?

If you use Tuner Pro, the Moates BURN2 is a great companion to that since it automatically sets up the proper offsets.

The other programmer I use is a Willems GQ-3X, that is meant more for electronics hobbiests since it will program just about any programmable IC under the sun, and so it's a little more difficult to use than the BURN2, but not difficult at all.

I wouldn't try to go too cheap, because the cheap ones seems to have issues.

Re: looking to pick up chip burner, recommendations?

Should i steer clear of TUNERC.A.T.S. ? They did list the BURN 2 as well. Their site looks like it hasn't been touched in years

If i buy the burn 2, will i need anything else? Is that just the hardware? Will i need to purchase the programming software separately? I know I'll need to buy blank chips too. Will the burn 2 do both tpi, and tbi '85-'92?

again, sorry to seem so uninformed.
