Using WinALDL

Hey guys so ive done some searching and couldn't find what i need, didnt really think i needed to start a new thread either. Can someone give me a link to a post or something with a good description of how to datalog with winaldl, i already have the program down loaded to my computer, i just ordered the usb cable from aldlcable.com, and i just wana be able to datalog so i can send my results to tbichips.com to have a custom chip made. So i'm just trying to figure out how to log before my cable comes in, also do i just plug the cable from my car to the computer and winaldl will recognize it?

Re: Tuning with the EBL

I had no issues with winALDL ever. I did however have a cable I purchased. You may or may not need the resister. See site on that. It should record sensor data and BLM when in CL.

Why would you use ALDL instead of the WUD with EBL?

Re: Using WinALDL

Hey guys i finally got my cable, got it installed and the right com port but all its showing is raw data for mw2, promida, promidb, occasionally iac, so heres a few questions. The cable has the resistor on ot where i can have a shorted to b, 10k resistor between a and b, or normal, where do i need this? Also what ecm type do i have for a 90 camaro rs 305 tbi automatic? Or.where can i look. Then at what baud should i be running, winaldl comes default at 2400. Hope yall can help thanks

Well i did some playing around some more so now i feel dumb for asking, i changed ecm type to 1228746 and baud to 4800 and data started flowing! Now if i only new what all these numbers mean or where they are supposed to be

Re: Using WinALDL

Disregard the INT unless you disabled BLM. BLM looks normal. May want to change VE cells that are showing (+ or -) > 4.

KC's are not excessive. I would pull 2 d timing where they occur and if they reduce it is K. If no change it is mechanical. If mechanical you fix the problem or reduce timing retard for K or zero out the K table. I reduced mine so that allows me to still monitor in logs. Past season I added a whole bunch more timing and had a very positive result in throttle response and SOP power.

Re: Using WinALDL

What exactly is blm? I tried searching and couldnt find an answer. Also these tables are after i installed my chip from tbichips. I did a datalog of it with the old chip and new one with just the sensor data but i still dont really know what im lookin at. Is there a thread that breaks.down what everything is exactly and where its normal range is for everything. Im seeing numbers and dont know if its ok or not lol. Also with the chip im supposed to have the base timing at stock specs at 0* and right now its still advanced 4* so i may take it down.

Re: Using WinALDL

BLM is block learn mode. Movement of the integrator causes a change in BLM. NB02 sensor is sending info to ECU based upon its movement over stoich. BLM is a correction of fueling to maintain proper A/F.

By monitoring BLM you can achieve a better running faster compensation for changes in air temp and baro pressure.

Datalog give you BLM reading . 136 is adding fuel 128 is neutral-perfect. 120 is pulling fuel. Ideally you want them closer to 128. Plus or minus 4 is good too.

Above in stickies is a lot of good info. Your ECU is 8746. Also in TBI forum is "free tune". Read it as well.

Re: Using WinALDL

Why is it that when i hook up to my car to my computer, when i go to start it it wont start unless i hit the throttle? It then idles fine just doesnt wana start? Also my blm is at 128 around 3000rpm and i think i
Like 126 around 2000 but at idle its extremely lean, 111 kinda lean. I'm thinkinkg its fine since its good up high.

Re: Using WinALDL

111 is rich pulling fuel. But since is CL it correcting to stoich. that is unless your min BLM is 111 then it ran out of room for correction. I believe it still takes out what it can in this case 23%.

I would refer you to "Hot Chip from Brian @ Harris Performance" as it appears chip needs tweeking. May need more IAC steps cold or more cranking fuel. could try to reset the IAC for min air. check the data log for iac steps key on engine off and validate IAC is moving at that time. It could be defective or dirty.

Re: Using WinALDL

Thanks, i'll check the iac, also i noticed my tps was at 5% at idle i think, it might of been more like 13%, anyways at wot key off it only goes up to 85%. Is there a way to adjust that or just replace it? Also i had asked brian after getting my chip if a custom chip would be worth it and he told me id be better off with a 350, not the answer i really expected.

Re: Using WinALDL

Some TPS's are adjustable. My 1984 originally was adjustable but my 1995 TB is not. Also I recall that some ECU's will automatically set the throttle stop position to 0% but not the WOT to 100%.
