will the computer from a 3.1 in a 92 Rs work in my 2.8 89 rs

I just kind of have the computer and was wondering if it would hurt anything or if it would help anything

The '92 3.1l ECM ('7730) is not plug & play with the '89 2.8l '7302 ECM. You could use it with a complete re-pin of the ECM harness connectors, or swapping the proper harness in. Along with adding a MAP sensor.

Six of one and a half-dozen of another. It really comes down to what you want from the ECM. If you are leaving the engine for the most part stock, and there aren't any MAF issues, it won't buy you a lot to change over to the '7730 ECM.

However, if you are going to boost the engine along with engine & driveline upgrades, that is a different story.
