Why does'nt my check Eng light c'on

I went to see if I had any old codes stored in the ecm and after jumping a&b terminals the Egn light does not even come on. Does that mean my ecm is not working? what can I do?

Did you turn the Ignition to the On position? If so, does the light come on when you first start the car? If not, then the bulb is probably burned out or might have been removed.
