Picked up a ALDL cable, do i need anything?

Hey all. Just picked up a ALDL interfacing cable to run diagnostic software on my laptop, see if i can figure out whats going on with my 1986 IROC.

I have heard that with MAF cars you need to use a 1,000 ohm resistor between the "A" and "B" ports on the ALDL to extablish a connection through the cable. Is this something i will need to do?

Also, am i a GM 1227165 ECU?

Thanks!

It is a 10K ohm resistor, and yes you will need it between A and B to establish a connection.
