somebody please assist on this madness

Hey everyone! My name is Nichole and I'm having a very annoying issue .
My 2004 dodge stratus has started dying on me. We have checked the battery, changed the alternator and checked fuses. It will still run it will just not get very far before it starts getting shaky and dies. My boyfriend believes it's the ECM. I really wouldn't like to pay for a diagnostic test unless neccesary. Any advice is GREATLY appreciated! Thank you!!

Re: somebody please assist on this madness

This is not the place to be asking Dodge questions as this is a mostly Camaro/Firebird forum. Someone here may be familiar with the Chrysler system but your problem sounds so general that it could be a multitude of things. I would think the ECM would be the last thing I would be looking at, but that is me. Could be bad injectors, fuel pump or filter. Your best bet, if you don't want to take it somewhere, would be to either get a scanner and scan for codes or maybe take it to an auto parts store and see if you can get them to scan it for you. Getting any codes is the first place to start any diagnosis so if any parts houses have the free scan service, go for it! HTH!
