1985 2.8 V6 Scan help please
Hi guys,
New to scanning and have never burned anything apart from toast so please bear with me.
My car is a 1985 2.8 V6 MPFi Firebird, I've scanned it tonight and have had some interesting results.
Firstly when the software (both TunerPro and WinALDL) is connecting and monitoring, the tachometer readings from the rev counter on the actual car dashboard and the software dashboard are very different. i.e. when both software is reading 3000 rpm the dash is reading 5000 rpm and the difference is linear throughout the rev range. I'm thinking perhaps someone at some point has changed the clocks with V8 clocks without realising? Is this what would happen? Is there anyway to confirm which is correct?
Also TunerPro gives me two separate coolant temperature settings. I've attached a picture to help describe what I'm on about. When one says 150F the other says 70F and when the fan kicks in there is no fan request? Confused. Also to note is that the values displayed in this photo ARE just after the fan kicked in, so what on earth is going on? Thats far too low for the fan to cut in. Something else to note is that the temp gauge never reads over 100F regardless of how hot the motor is.
So this is where I'm at, so if someone could help before i detonate my motor id really appreciate it!
