Vss sensors

for my 86 camaro does the vss sensor have anything to do with shifting of the transmission or running of the engine? If so what wires is it and where is it located?

Re: Vss sensors

It's probably in the instrument cluster. It helps with iac control and tcc lockup.
Error code 24 may show if it's not functional.

Re: Vss sensors

On 90-92 $8D, VSS contributes to fan on/off, controls TCC lockup, highway mode fuel and spark, fuel pump cutoff speed-governer function.

Not sure if it's the same on an 86.

Third gens never had electronically controlled shifting though.

Injector cutoff on over speed (RPM or MPH).
