259 vs 165 ECM

Car: 1987 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am WS6
Engine: SBC 350
Transmission: T-56
Axle/Gears: 3.70:1 BW M78 9-Bolt Posi
259 vs 165 ECM

Is a 259 ECM easier to connect to via ALDL than a 165? My car has a 165, but would it behoove me to swap it for a 259? I have problems connecting to it for data logging. Are most remans 165s?
