What obd1 scanner do you guys use?
I'm looking into a ses light and trying to get a scanner on the car. My father has a blue point obd2 scanner and when I bought the cable to go from a 2 to a 1 it wont scan. So I'm asking you guys, what do you personally use?
I'm trying to do something more than the paper clip method because with that all I get is code 12 and that's just telling me that there are no codes. (If that's the case whys the light on?)

you might be reading the wrong port in the aldl if it’s tpi maf and you are running a 1227165 ecm data is read on pin e of the aldl. Tpi sd pin m .

If you have a Android device you can install ALDLdroid, you will need the correct files to go with your ecm. You can read your codes with that. You will also need a obd1 cable. Another option is A Tech 1 if you can get a hold of one.
